Mercury Marquis. 1979–82 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/R, 4942, 5732 cm³ (V8 OHV). As with Ford LTD, Mercury downsized its Marquis on to the Panther platform. Still not the most economical (351 in³ could get as low as 11 mpg) but far better than predecessor. Remarks for LTD apply here, although there was no 4·2 V8 for more upscale Marquis. Marquis Meteor name applied to lower-ranked models in Canada: they were the last to wear the Meteor badge there.
