Autocade is an international car cyclopædia that’s geographically unbiased, carefully edited for enthusiasts and media who want a quick, accurate reference. There is a greater emphasis on models produced after 1970.

Inside Autocade

Haima 3

2012 Haima 3.jpg

Haima 3 (HMC 7185A). 2007–12 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1598, 1839 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Débuted at Shanghai 2007, an attractive three-box sedan and hatchback built on the Mazda Familia (BJ) platform and running gear, but with Haima’s own DOHC engines. Considered stylish and with good quality, inside and out, and good handling, but power lacking from the fours and few options.

Manufacturing location: Hainan, China

Marque: Haima | Successor: Haima Family (2011–)

Volkswagen Bora (2018–)

2018 Volkswagen Bora.jpg

Volkswagen Bora. 2018 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, 1395, 1498 cm³ (I4 DOHC). FAW’s equivalent of the Volkswagen Lavida Plus, but with different, four-light bodywork, made at a new plant. Related under the skin to the Lavida Plus and Jetta VII.

Manufacturing location: Qingdao, China

Marque: Volkswagen | Model: Volkswagen Bora | Predecessor: Volkswagen Bora (2008–)

Yugo Florida

Yugo Florida. 1988–2008 (prod. 190,000 approx., incl. 29,950 Florida 2). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1116, 1299, 1372, 1580, 1587 cm³ (I4 OHC). Zastava’s most ambitious car to date, with US$150 million development independent of Fiat, on a unique platform. Inoffensive, tidy Giugiaro styling gave Florida a contemporary look, unlike lesser Zastavas. Some Fiat parts, including headlights from the Croma. Dubbed Yugo Florida in its home market, and not Zastava; sometimes exported as Yugo Sana. Diesel and notchback planned, but not realized. Civil war interrupted production, while sanctions put paid to exports. Pick-up also created on Florida base from 1998. More luxurious Business model from 1999. Facelifted Florida In and In L models, with Peugeot 306 engine (1587 cm³), on sale in 2002. Quality was never up there, nor were interior materials, but Florida, like all Zastavas, sold on price, but even a cheap price could not keep its sales up. Penultimate Zastava car was a Florida; Nasr of Egypt also assembled the Florida for its market, with 45 per cent local content.

Manufacturing location: Kragujevcu, Yugoslavia (now Serbia)

Marque: Yugo
