XL-7 (with a hyphen) was the export name for the Suzuki Grand Escudo, but by 2006, the hyphen was gone and the new car was based on a GM platform related to that underpinning the Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent, Saturn Vue and Opel Antara. The XL7 was short-lived, and the nameplate resurfaced in Asia in 2020 for a front-wheel-drive model based around the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, but with more cladding.
