Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (トヨタ ランドクルーザープラド) (J70G/J70W). 1990–6 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door utility, with two rear doors; 2-door LWB utility, with two rear doors, 2-door convertible, 2-door LWB convertible. F/A, 2367 cm³ petrol, 2446, 2779, 2982 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Renamed and refreshed J70, supposedly a “light-duty” model for on-road use but in fact very capable off-road. Sold as Land Cruiser or Land Cruiser II in some markets. Electric lock on rear differential. Wide (class 3) models from August 1991 for the domestic market, though this had been offered for export since 1984. Mid-term changes 1993. Special edition in 1994, SX Wide Limited, commemorating 2·5 million Land Cruisers made.
