1967 Rambler Rebel Convertible.jpg

Rambler Rebel. 1967 (prod. n/a). 2- and 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door hardtop coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 199, 232 in³ (I6 OHV), 287, 290, 343 in³ (V8 OHV). Another expensive restyling for Rambler’s intermediate line under CEO Roy Abernethy, to help make the vehicles more competitive against the Big Three. Classic badge consigned to history, as the entire intermediate line took the previous year’s hardtop coupé’s name. Wheelbase now 114 in, up from 112 in, and rear suspension now a four-link trailing arm design. Roomy, and average to above-average in terms of reliability. Noisier than rivals. Longer warranty than competitors, and considered a sensible buy among US intermediates.

Manufacturing locations: Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA; Brampton, Ontario, Canada

Marque: Rambler | Model: Rambler Rebel | Predecessor: Rambler Classic (1965–7) | Successor: AMC Rebel (1968–9)
