Mahindra XUV400. 2023 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/F, 34·5, 39·4 kWh electric. Essentially the electric version of XUV300, with good power from batteries and more interior room, the sub-4 m length no longer needed as electric cars attract a 5 per cent GST in India. With the same length as the original Ssangyong Tivoli on which it is based (an extra 205 mm in overall length compared with the XUV300), boot space increased from 257 l to 378 l. Interior dated, with 7 in screen not in keeping with EV image. Also less well equipped, with no AC, front fog lamps, and front parking sensors. Steering still vague, and ride quality good.
