Toyota’s attempt at the Suzuki Escudo (1988–2013) market, using Corolla and Celica components. Not really an off-roader, but very manœuvrable, thanks to short length; good power-to-weight, and reasonably refined. All-round independent suspension. A hit with buyers. Five-door with longer wheelbase from 1995; cabriolet from 1997.
