1974 Toyota Crown.jpg

Toyota Crown (MS80/LS80/S90/S100). 1974–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/R, 1994 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1988, 2563 cm³ petrol, 2188 cm³ diesel (I6 OHC). A course correction for Toyota: out with the adventurous, in with straight lines and conservatism. With the 1970s recession, the fifth-generation Crown had a longer life, while 2600 models were longer (4,690 mm versus 4,765 mm for the sedans; 4,655 and 4,740 for hardtops). Pioneering four-speed automatic introduced with this model. New bodystyle of a four-door pillared hardtop. S100 from 1976 with emissions’ regulation changes, accompanied by refresh, further changes in 1978. Anti-lock brakes introduced with this generation, as well as four-wheel disc brakes. Diesel from 1978. Lots of toys, with emphasis on comfort.
