Not a hardtop this time, with both models featuring a B-pillar. Mid-term facelift in 1979, with four rectangular lights. US models featured 2·2-litre four, with 2·4 in final year. XX denoted long-nose six-cylinder version. Spawned a sedan spin-off called the Celica Camry.
