D50 casts off its old [[Saab]] roots, in favour of a more modern, better resolved package to take on the Geely [[Emgrand EC7]] and [[Roewe 350]]. In a retrograde step, torsion beam at rear, but still a confident handler, on a par with the [[Škoda Octavia (5E)]], and with good ride. Disappointing performance from the launch 1·5, good mainly in urban settings. Steering responsiveness and interior noise poor. Turbo 1·5 added for 2019 with 110 kW, improving on the 85 kW unit (which remained in the range). Became the Beijing D50 when BAIC wound up the Senova brand in 2019.
