US export name for Toyota BB (NCP3), aimed at younger buyers who wanted a car that bucked the trends. BB was a boxy, upright vehicle that proved popular as an “anti-car”, and the vehicle stayed in production in Japan for North American export even after domestic sales ended. Its successor was not the second-generation BB: the nameplate was transferred to a boxy car based on the larger Corolla platform, the Rumion.
