Latest revision as of 12:04, 29 August 2022Renault Mégane Scénic. 1995–2003 (prod. 2,800,000 approx.). 5-door MPV. F/F, 1390, 1598, 1998 cm³ petrol, 1870 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1390, 1598, 1783, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Ingenious and very successful derivative of Renault Mégane I, so successful that Renault tended to market it as a separate line after its 1999 facelift (though the word Mégane continued to appear on the body). European Car of the Year 1997. Faux off-road RX4 model from 2000, with an extra 12 cm in height, cladding and a bull bar, but it did not prove to be the success that Renault expected. Honest transport, dynamically middle-of-the-road, but very versatile and caught the public’s imagination. Credited with improving Renault’s fortunes in the late 1990s. Iranian licensed manufacture as the Kish Khodro Veek came to nought, and only got as far as prototype stage.
Marque: Renault | Model: Renault Mégane | Successor: Renault Mégane Scénic II
