From AutocadeOpel Omega (GM2800). 1994–2003 (prod. 797,011). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1995, 2172 cm³ diesel, 1998 cm³ petrol (I4 OHC), 1998, 2198 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2498 cm³ diesel (I6 OHC), 2498, 2597, 2962, 3175 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Roomy, refined large saloon and estate with good performance from a wide range of engines. Smooth ride, but average handling. Let down only by a lack of cachet over its marque. Reliable if well maintained. Facelift in 1999. Sold as a Vauxhall in the UK. Exported to the US with a different grille, and softer suspension settings, as the Cadillac Catera, but it failed to capture buyers’ imagination. Also related to the Australian Holden Commodore (VT) and its derivatives. Not directly replaced.
