Very aerodynamic for its time (base saloon had a C<sub>d</sub> of 0,28), refined large car, with good fuel economy. New platform, with rear trailing arms and disc brakes all round. European Car of the Year in 1986–7. Hot [[Lotus]] Omega model at top of range with DOHC six, delivering 377 PS (277 kW), and costing DM125,000. Mid-term changes in 1990. German production to end of 1993. Brazilian Chevrolet Omega started 1992 with Opel engines, before moving to 2·2 and Chevrolet OHV 4·1 from 1995. Chevrolet Omega wagon tagged Suprema, instead of Caravan. Related to the much larger [[Holden Commodore (VN)]] and derivatives.
