1974 Mercury Meteor Rideau 500 2-door hardtop.jpg

Mercury Meteor Rideau 500/Mercury Meteor Montcalm. 1973–6 (prod. 10,560 sold in 1974; 5,866 sedan, 4,021 coupé, 1,230 wagon for 1975 only). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door hardtop coupé. F/R, 351, 400, 460 in³ (V8 OHV). New-shape full-sized Mercurys appeared for 1973, and Meteor had a much-reduced range, now consisting only of Rideau 500 and Montcalm. Wagons had 400 in³ V8 as base engine; others had 351. With Monterey gone from US Mercury line-up in 1975, Meteor remained a cheaper full-size model in Canada, separate from the Marquis. For 1977, the Meteor line became merely a lower trim level of the Marquis.

Manufacturing location: Oakville, Ontario, Canada

Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Meteor | Predecessor: Mercury Meteor (1969–72) | Successor: Mercury Marquis (1973–8)
