Holden Kingswood (HZ series). 1977–80 (prod. 154,155 all HZ). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door utility, 2-door panel van. F/R, 3310 cm³ (I6 OHV), 4142, 5044 cm³ (V8 OHV). Uprated HZs came soon after HXs, which had suffered from power loss due to emissions’ equipment; HZ also had Holden’s Radial Tuned Suspension, with improved handling. Low-spec Belmont not available in HZ series, absorbed into Kingswood range, while mid-spec Kingswood SL appeared. Sporting panel van and ute named Sandman. Vacationer SL Wagon offered with 4·2-litre V8 in final two years (1979–80). For many, the last all-Australian mainstream Holden till the launch of the VE in 2006.
