Ford Explorer (U625). 2020 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/R, F/A, 2266 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2956 cm³ petrol, 13·6 kWh–2956 cm³ electric–petrol hybrid, 3350 cm³ petrol–electric hybrid (V6 DOHC). Ford makes its SUV very competitive again, though initial production suffered from quality issues. Rear-wheel-drive platform, but still a unibody, with better handling (superior to its rivals) and towing capability. Performance models with 3·0 twin turbo; largest 3·4 has hybrid powertrain. Ten-speed automatic standard. Interior materials could be better, and hampered by seating for six for most models (though some accommodate seven).
