1971 Ford Aero.jpg

Ford Aero-Willys. 1969–73 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/R, 2638, 3008 cm³ (6 cyl. OHV). With Ford’s takeover of Willys do Brasil, Aero was given Ford badges. The Executivo was deleted, with Henry Ford II preferring that the Galaxie competed in the luxury segment instead. Few changes other than badging, though the last Aeroes received the three-litre from the Itamaraty. With Taunus and Maverick launching in Germany and the US, the dated Aero’s days were numbered: Brazilian test groups preferred the Taunus, but Maverick’s cheaper manufacture saw that adopted as Aero’s replacement in 1973.

Manufacturing location: Sao Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil

Marque: Ford | Predecessor: Aero Willys (1963–8) | Successor: Ford Maverick (1970–9)
