Revision as of 09:57, 6 March 2012Fiat Panda (Tipo 141, Tipo 153). 1980–2003 (prod. 3,800,000 approx. to 1998). 3-door saloon, 2-door van. F/F, F/A, 652 cm³ (2 cyl. OHV), 769, 843, 899, 903, 965 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 769, 999, 1108 cm³ petrol, 1301 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC). Utilitarian, boxy small car designed by Giugiaro of ItalDesign, in the mould of the Citroën 2CV or Renault 4, and originally tipped to replace Fiat 126. In the end, it supplemented the smaller car. Attractive, functional design, though few early models survive due to rust. Equipment levels gradually raised through its production run. Four-wheel-drive model (Tipo 153) built by Steyr–Daimler–Puch from 1983, mechanical changes 1986.
