Revision as of 03:17, 9 April 2011Fiat Grande Punto/Fiat Punto (Progetto 199/Progetto 310). 2005 to date (prod. over 1,000,000 approx.). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1242, 1368, 1598, 1747, 1796 cm³ petrol, 1368 cm³ CNG, 1910 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC), 1248, 1598 cm³ diesel, 1368 cm³ petrol (4 cyl. DOHC). Attractive, Giugiaro-styled compact car, supplementing Fiat Punto (188). Maserati 3200 GT-like front end, as small cars took on sporting design features. Good handling with good ride, though noisier than some, depending on engine. Italian production to 2009; Brazilian (as Fiat Punto) and Indian production from 2007 and 2009 respectively, a simpler car, despite similar looks. Brazilian models equipped at top end from 2011 with 1598 and 1747 cm³ E-Torq engines (the latter badged 1·8), developments of the Tritec units that powered the Mini and Chrysler PT Cruiser.
