Revision as of 11:14, 12 October 2019Fiat 1300/Fiat 1500. 1961–7 (prod. 1,900,000 approx. all versions, incl. 123,059 in Argentina). 4-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1295, 1481 cm³ (I4 OHV). Intermediate range slotting between the Fiat 1100 and 1800, with styling cues from the latter around the front grille. Carefully engineered, with Fiat preparing for competition in the Common Market. Well made interior for the time. Four-speed manual as standard, front disc brakes. OHV engines derived from the larger Fiat sixes. Familiare estate followed the saloon after a few months of its launch. The 1500C appeared in 1964, with a 75 PS engine and a 10 cm increase in wheelbase, and more luxurious appointments. Eventually, the shorter-wheelbase 1500 was deleted; the 1300 was replaced by the 124 in 1966. The 125 took over from the 1500 the year after.
