From AutocadeAustin A40 Somerset. 1952–4 (prod. 166,063 saloon, 7,243 convertible). 4-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/R, 1197 cm³ (I4 OHV). Rebodied A40 Devon, with A70 Hereford-style lines, with exports in mind. Coupé in fact a convertible, by Carbodies. Significant for Japanese motor industry as this model was assembled by Nissan under licence from April 1953 to December 1954, chosen thanks to Austin’s successful export record to the US and Japan, and the car’s reliability.
