Rover 3-Litre (P5). 1958–62 (prod. 20,963). 4-door saloon. F/R, 2995 cm³ (I6 OISE). Modern saloon from Rover, its first monocoque design. Reworked engine with unusual overhead intake valve and side exhaust valve, but 2995 cm³ and 105 bhp net. At 32 cwt., P5 felt underpowered, but excellent ride and comfortable cabin. More imposing than P4 and not a direct replacement, but a range-topper. Improvements in 1961 with power-assisted steering helped.

Manufacturing location: Solihull, West Midlands, England

Marque: Rover | Model: Rover P5 | Successor: Rover P5 Mk II
