From AutocadePlymouth Barracuda (E-body). 1970–4 (prod. 113,379 approx.). 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. F/R, 198, 225 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 340, 360, 383, 426, 440 in³ (V8 OHV). Bigger Barracuda, replacing the Valiant-based models of the 1960s (and owing little to the Valiant by now). Engine choices trimmed after 1971, with the big-block 426 Hemi and 440 RB discontinued, along with the 383 in³ V8. Thrashed by most owners, though survivors will be in collectors’ hands today. ’Cuda models considered most sporting. Related to Dodge Challenger but narrower and with shorter wheelbase (108 in here), competitor to Ford Mustang and Plymouth’s last pony car. Production ended April 1, 1974—the 10th anniversary of the Barracuda beginning production—ironically just before pony car sales began rising for Ford and GM.
Marque: Plymouth | Model: Plymouth Barracuda | Predecessor: Plymouth Barracuda (1967–9)
