From AutocadeRover 2000/Rover 2200/Rover 3500 (P6). 1963–76 (prod. 322,302). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1974, 2204 cm³ (I4 OHC), 3528 cm³ (V8 OHV). First European Car of the Year (1964) as the Rover 2000, with advanced specification for its day, with disc brakes all round, hydraulic clutch, and very good handling. Italianate looks, though styled in the UK. TC from 1966, upping power from 90 bhp to 124 bhp, but it was the addition of the ex-Buick small-block V8 that made the P6 particularly special. Boot was not that large, hence some owners mounted a spare wheel on top. Refresh in 1971. The 3500S from 1972 had manual transmission; 2200 with greater bore from 1973.
