Revision as of 13:38, 24 June 2011Toyota Scepter/Toyota Camry/Toyota Vienta (XV10). 1992–7 (prod. unknown). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/F, 2164 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC), 2959, 2994 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Domestic appliance on wheels, successfully targeting the US market with what Toyota called ‘world-size’ dimensions. Average in most respects, and a top seller both in North America and Australasia. Scepter in home market, to distinguish it from Camry, which had stuck to the 1,700 mm width to fit into a lower tax bracket. Scepter identical in profile, but noticeably wider. Coupé from 1993. Exported as Camry, though Australian V6 models badged Vienta for that market. Japanese production completed 1996. Badge-engineered as Holden Apollo (1993–7) in Australia.
Marque: Toyota | Predecessor: Toyota Camry (V20) | Successor: Toyota Camry (XV20)
