Revision as of 01:33, 15 August 2009Vauxhall Viva (HB). 1966–7o (prod. 566,391, incl. 4,606 GT). 2- and 4-door saloon, 3-door estate. F/R, 1159 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 1599, 1975 cm³ (4 cyl. OHC). More stylish Viva, with coke-bottle styling apeing some US GM models. Automatic from 1967, larger engines from 1968. Tw0-litre GT had twin carburettors. Brabham model took 1·2-litre engine, adding twin carburettors and uprated camshaft, delivering 69 bhp; built 1967–8 before replacement by 1·6 (83 bhp). Estate introduced 1967, four-door saloon from 1968. Handling far improved, thanks in part to rear coil springs and trailing arms, toward top of the class in the UK. Rust problems persisted. Also built as Holden Torana (HB) in Australia.
