Revision as of 10:06, 4 June 2018Dodge Polara. 1969–73 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 2- and 4-door hardtop, 2-door convertible, 5-door wagon. F/R, 215 in³ (I6 OHV), 318, 360, 383, 400, 440 in³ (V8 OHV). “Fuselage”-style full-size Dodge, so called because the side windows angled inward, much like on an aeroplane. Mid-range model called Polara 500, slotting in between Polara Special and Monaco line. New front and rear styling for 1970, with convertibles finishing that model year. Rejig of trim levels for 1971 (Custom, Brougham). Major facelift 1972, with a more minor one for 1973. Last Polaras (at least in the US), ending a line that began in 1960. Plenty of quality niggles throughout. Terrible gas mileage, lots of space, and cruisy ride, typical of full-size American cars around this time. Related to Plymouth Fury, Dodge Monaco, Chrysler Newport, Chrysler New Yorker, Chrysler 300 and Imperial of these years.
Marque: Dodge | Model: Dodge Polara | Predecessor: Dodge Polara (1965–8) | Successor: Dodge Monaco (1974)
