Revision as of 04:44, 27 December 2015Škoda Favorit (Typ 781). 1988–95 (prod. 783,167). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1289 cm³ (I4 OHV). Many years in the making, Škoda’s designers come up with a modern, practical hatchback, with a good use of space and handsome styling by Bertone. Porsche had a hand in the suspension, and Favorit was a respectable handler. Shown initially in Brno in 1987, though first production model left the plant in 1988. Volkswagen inherited the Favorit when it took over Škoda, and in 1991, moved the front badge to the centre; more significant facelift 1993. Rust, poor trim and questionable electrics, but considered a winner when it came to cheap, basic cars. Estate version called Škoda Forman.
