BYD launches another Song L, this time a mid-sized plug-in hybrid crossover with a different, more upright and practical body to the L EV. “Floating” roof design. Fifth-generation dual-mode (DM) system, with low fuel consumption (3·9 ℓ/100 km), with 75, 112 or 160 km pure EV range, depending on model. Very popular at launch. Similar interior to L EV, with large boot. Level 2 driving assistance, and seven airbags. Good early reviews for the 15·6 in screen’s system. MacPherson struts up front, four-link independent suspension with variable damping at rear, aiding cornering and lane changes.
