Started as a machinery and hardware factory in 1992 before building motorcycles a few years later, then assembling Shanxing cars. In 2005, Zotye began building a clone of the Daihatsu Terios, before adding a licensed Fiat Multipla (197) to its range in 2008. Zotye has since added more Fiat models, entering the compact car market with versions of the Fiat Palio and Perla.
