Wartburg 353. 1966–88 (prod. over 1,000,000 approx.). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/F, 992 cm³ (3 cyl. OHV). East German car with dated engine and chassis even when new (they could be traced to a 1938 model), from a company that shared its roots with BMW. Exported to UK as Wartburg Knight. Estate model called Tourist. Usually used by DDR police; private buyers waited years for delivery. Facelift in 1985.
