1997 Volvo V70XC 2·5i.jpg

Volvo V70 (P80LW). 1996–2000 (prod. 373,689). 5-door estate. F/F, F/A, 1984, 2435 cm³ petrol, 2460 cm³ diesel (I5 OHC), 1984, 1994, 2319, 2435 cm³ (I5 DOHC). Renamed 850, brought into line with Volvo’s new naming scheme. Mild facelift, with more power and torque for turbocharged engines; interior revised and improved. Safety upgrades, with stronger B-pillars and revised steering column and seat-belt tensioners. Balanced but light steering, good handling, though four-wheel-drive models felt heavy.

Manufacturing locations: Torslanda, Sweden; Gent, Belgium

Marque: Volvo | Model: Volvo V70 | Predecessor: Volvo 850 | Successor: Volvo V70 (P80SW)

q.v. Volvo S70
