Rear-wheel-drive coupé jointly developed with Toyota, and twinned with Toyota 86. Features new flat-four Subaru engine, with bore and stroke both measuring 86 mm; Toyota direct injection. The aim was to create a true driver’s car, something Toyota was not known for doing; however, road tests indicated that the two companies had succeeded. Understeer at the limit but immensely capable chassis; low weight and fairly low centre of gravity. Weight distribution with 54 per cent at front, 46 at rear. All-wheel drive unlikely.
Marque: Subaru
