Saab 9-3 (1998–2003)

Saab 9-3. 1998–2003 (prod. 326,370). 3- and 5-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/F, 1985, 2290 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2171 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Improved version of roomy Opel-derived 900. Still some issues with body roll, and handling and ride not as good as the likes of the BMW 3er-Reihe (E36) or its successor, which débuted the same year. Safe in the Swedish tradition; reliability tended to be average. Platform went eastward in 2010 to BAIC, which launched its Senova D50 off it.
