Reliant Scimitar GTC.jpg

Reliant Scimitar GTC. 1980–6 (prod. 442 approx.). 2-door convertible. F/R, 2792 cm³ (V6 OHV). Handsome convertible version of Scimitar GTE (SE6b) hatchback, looking different enough from its forebear and eventually outsold it in later years. Ford Köln fuel-injected engine, rather than old Essex three-litre, with back axle change to accommodate it. GRP body but on steel support; fabric roof not the most watertight. Never replaced properly at Reliant, which went on to make a small Scimitar SS1, though rights for GTC (and GTE) went to a company called Middlebridge in 1987.

Manufacturing location: Tamworth, Staffordshire, England
