Pontiac 6000 (A-body). 1983–91 (prod. unknown). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon, 2-door coupé. F/F, F/A, 2474 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 2836, 3136 cm³ petrol, 4304 cm³ diesel (V6 OHV). New front-drive A-body car based around X-car (Pontiac Phoenix) underpinnings, but far better resolved and STE (Special Touring Equipment) models the best handling of all the As. Wagons from 1984; coupés dropped after 1988 model year. Sedan glasshouse revised for 1989, and four-wheel drive only for STE then. Good, middle-of-the-range family cars.
