Opel Kapitän. 1969–70 (prod. 4,976). 4-door saloon. F/R, 2784 cm³ (I6 CIH). Opel’s entry-level big car, part of the KAD trio, and the shortest-lived. Two engine options, both with the 2·8: single carburettor developing 132 PS, or twin carburettors with 145 PS. Deleted in 1970, and with it, the Kapitän nameplate that had been in use since 1938.
