Nissan Skyline (R31). 1985–9 (prod. 309,716 sold). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan, 2-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/R, 1809, 1974 cm³ (4 cyl. OHC), 1998, 2962 cm³ petrol, 2825 cm³ diesel (6 cyl. OHC), 1998 cm³ (6 cyl. DOHC). As trends went rounded, Nissan went the opposite way, and it was no more obvious than with the boxy R31 Skyline. Still with a performance edge, with DOHC turbo featuring HICAS active steering. Front air dam automatically activated at 70 km/h on sporting models. Four-wheel independent suspension. Two-litre four for South Africa, while Australasia saw the three-litre six.
