Nissan Pulsar (N12)

Nissan Pulsar (N12). 1982–7 (prod. unknown). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan, 2-door coupé. F/F, 987, 1269, 1488 cm³ petrol, 1681 cm³ diesel (4 cyl. OHC). Stylish at launch and a step forward from rounded N10, N12 Pulsar initially appeared as hatchbacks, with formal-roofline two-door coupé called EXA (exported as NX to North America). Competent, front-wheel-drive engineering with excellent engines, but average to drive and bodywork not the best. Built with Langley-style grille in Australia; regular Pulsar was the Holden Astra there. Sold with Cherry nameplate in Europe. Odd spin-off included Alfa Romeo Arna, Pulsar body with Alfasud engines, also sold as Nissan Pulsar Milano or Nissan Cherry Europe. Japanese production ceased 1986.
