F/R, 1973, 1998 cm³ LPG (I4 OHC), 1998, 2960 cm³ petrol, 1998 cm³ LPG (V6 OHC), 1998, 2960 cm³ (V6 DOHC), 2488, 2664 cm³ diesel (I4 OHV), 2825 cm³ diesel (I6 OHC). Nissan continued with its boxy theme from the 1980s, with hardtop and conventional sedan. Longest-lived (and last) Cedric, thanks to the basic, boxy sedan staying in production for taxi fleets until September 2014. Y30 wagon continued during Y31’s run. First DOHC engines for Cedric line. Four-wheel independent suspension, with MacPherson struts at front, semi-trailing arms and coils at rear. Cedric Royal Limousine also available, originally shown at Tokyo in 1987, pricier than a Mercedes-Benz 560SEL or a BMW 750iL. Mid-term changes 1989, with two-litre turbo performance improved. LWB sedan from 1989, with an extra 155 mm in the wheelbase. Thirtieth anniversary models 1990. Hardtop to 1991, and basic Y31 sedan—which featured a column gearchange for taxi drivers—facelifted when Y32 hardtop commenced its run.
