They approached Kohji Nakauchi, president of Middlebridge, to finance the project, and a factory was set up by 1987 in Beeston, Nottingham. The first cars produced by hand from 1989, after a launch at Earl’s Court in 1988. Difficulties with other parts of the Middlebridge group led to financial difficulties, and the receivers were called in, in 1990. Seventy-seven Middlebridge Scimitars were built, fewer than what had been projected.
