Mercury Villager. 1999–2002 (prod. 114,246 sold in US). 5-door MPV. F/F, 3275 cm³ (V6 OHC). Nissan addresses some of the Villager’s (and Quest’s) shortcomings, with a larger V6 for more power (at the expense of fuel economy), and a driver’s side rear door. New sheetmetal; wheelbase the same as before, but 4·6 in added to the length, 1·2 in to the width, all helping with interior space. Manœuvrable, with softer ride, though handling still fairly good. ABS no longer standard, now an option; no side airbags. Wind noise still an issue but improved over its predecessor; now about average for the segment.

Manufacturing location: Avon Lake, Ohio, USA

Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Villager | Predecessor: Mercury Villager (1993–8) | Successor: Mercury Monterey (2004–7)

q.v. Nissan Quest (V41)
