1995 Mercury Villager.jpg

Mercury Villager (VX54). 1993–8 (prod. n/a). 4-door MPV. F/F, 2960 cm³ (V6 OHC). Mercury’s response to Chrysler’s successful minivans, developed by Nissan (which sold it as the Quest) but made by Ford. Similar wheelbase to the first-generation Chryslers. Mechanically related to the Nissan Maxima (J30). Revived Villager name, first used on an Edsel station wagon, then by Mercury from the 1960s. Not the roomiest, and standard equipment not as comprehensive as rivals. V6 adequate, and not as powerful as Chrysler’s. Wind noise its main issue. Body roll kept under control, suspension reasonably firm.

Manufacturing location: Avon Lake, Ohio, USA

Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Villager | Successor: Mercury Villager (1999–2002)
