As at Ford with the LTD, Mercury’s top line was divided into two separate cars for 1983: the Marquis nameplate went on to a version of the Ford Fairmont (Fox), a.k.a. Mercury Zephyr, so the full-size models became Grand Marquis. Changes mostly paralleled those of Ford LTD Crown Victoria, with two-door deleted after 1987 model year. Wagon called Colony Park, Mercury’s equivalent of Country Squire. Facelift in 1988.
Marque: Mercury | Model: Mercury Marquis | Predecessor: Mercury Marquis (1979–82) | Successor: Mercury Grand Marquis (1992–2011)
