Maico 500. 1955–8 (prod. over 5,000 all Maico models). 2-door cabriolet, 2-door LWB saloon. R/R, 452 cm³ (I2 2-str.). Bigger-engined version of the Maico MC 400. Larger, water-cooled Heinkel 18 PS engine, with body by Baur, though fundamentally the same: simple, uncomfortable, noisy, and unrefined. Two body lengths, the longer (500/4) accommodating four passengers. Chassis improved 1957. Maico decided to exit the car business soon after, with the car venture a failure. Licensed for Argentinian manufacture as the Alcre Susana 500.

Manufacturing location: Ammerbruch-Pfäffingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Marque: Maico | Predecessor: Maico MC 400
