To comply with US legislation over bumpers, British Leyland, saving pennies, raised the car height to suit, spoiling the handling. Very dated by this point, but few competitors featured a full convertible. Front anti-roll bar thickened in 1977, rear anti-roll bar standard. Last MG to leave Abingdon in 1980 as BL boss Michael Edwardes closed factory; revived with Rover V8 engine as MG RV8 in 1990s.
Marque: MG | Model: MG MGB | Predecessor: MG MGB Mk III | Successor: MG RV8
