MG MGB Mk IV.jpg

MG MGB. 1974–80 (prod. 387,259 all B Mks I to IV). 2-door convertible. F/R, 1798 cm³ (I4 OHV). To comply with US legislation over bumpers, British Leyland, saving pennies, raised the car height to suit, spoiling the handling. Very dated by this point, but few competitors featured a full convertible. Front anti-roll bar thickened in 1977, rear anti-roll bar standard. Last MG to leave Abingdon in 1980 as BL boss Michael Edwardes closed factory; revived with Rover V8 engine as MG RV8 in 1990s.

Manufacturing location: Abingdon, England

Marque: MG | Model: MG MGB | Predecessor: MG MGB Mk III | Successors: Triumph TR7, MG RV8
