Luxury brand from [[Toyota]], with first models released 1989. Initially the Lexus range was made up of models that were also sold as Toyotas in the home market, including a Camry hardtop and a rebadged Soarer. Highly successful in the US, less so in Europe. Sold on refinement ([[Toyota Celsior]]-based LS was quieter than any [[Mercedes-Benz]] or [[Rolls-Royce]]), quality (even minutiæ such as steering wheel stitch density was looked into) and good value (on the basis that even rich people buying luxury cars would like a bargain). Now fully established, Lexus even launched in Japan in the 2000s, and began having models exclusive to its range.
