Holden Torana (LX). 1976–8 (prod. 49,902, incl. 8,527 Hatch). 4-door sedan, 3-door coupé. F/R, 1897 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV), 2834, 3310 cm³ (6 cyl. OHV), 4142, 5044 cm³ (V8 OHV). A new body style—the Hatch—was the big news for cosmetically changed LX series, but new emissions’ standards came into force soon after launch. Improved interior. Sunbird badge adorned four-cylinder models from late 1976, while Radial Tuned Suspension, from 1977, improved handling across range. Most famous of this series was the A9X option, developed for touring-car racing. Last Torana with V8.
